The Final (Part 1) The final of the European Championships was held in Wembley Stadium which is in London, giving the English an advantage. The Final was between Mancini’s Italy squad and Southgate’s England team. The UEFA EURO 2020 final took place on Sunday 11 July 2021, kicking off at 20:00 BST. The game started with English domination and they took advantage with Luke Shaw scoring a volley past Donaruma. After this the Italians took a hold of the match as they pushed and pushed for an equaliser. They finally got this after Leonardo Bonnucci scored from a corner with a Verratti assist. As the 90 minutes ended and it was soon to be penalties, so the penalty genius that he is Gareth Southgate put on two players to take penalties, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho. This would be their demise
The Final (Part 2) So it was to be the game went to penalties. With the toss of a coin the penalties were taken at the England end of Wembley and the Italians were to start. Domenico Berardi was the first penalty taker he scored sending Pickford the wrong way. Next was Harry Kane who placed his penalty it the corner so far that Donaruma couldn’t reach. It was the Italians turn and Belotti’s shot was saved by Pickford. Maguire then scored to give England the advantage. Bonnucci scored his penalty just over Pickford’s hands. Rashford (one of Southgate’s penalty subs) missed his penalty by hitting the post. In the end Saka missed his penalty resulting in Italy winning the Euros!
