Facts on Gymnastics

Gymnastics involves lots of strength, balance, control, power, flexibility, agility and coordination and you need  to work very hard to gain/achieve all these skills.

Gymnastics is one of the oldest sports in the world, it has been around for 2,000 years

Today there are gymnastics competitions in many countries. Gymnastics is also a very popular part of the Olympics which is held every four years.

Gymnastics were introduced at the 1896 Olympics.

Rhythmic gymnastics competitions include the ball, the hoop, the ribbon and the rope.

There are aerobic gymnastics and display gymnastics, which can be done by large groups and are often done  for entertainment purposes.

There are many types of gymnastics to try; Artistic, Rhythmic, Acrobatic, Aerobic and Trampolining and Tumbling.
